This week in Louisiana a four year old boy from Mississippi lost his life due to a rare brain-eating disease called "waterborne Naegleria fowleri." They're still not 100% positive that's what it is, but they took samples from the child's home and it tested positive for amoeba. It could take up to a month to confirm it was waterborne Naegleria floweri. Naegleria floweri is found mainly in the South East in hot springs, and warm freshwater. Amoeba enters through your nose usually, and goes straight to the brain. Dr. Dirk Haselow spoke to one of the CNN reporters and said that "99% of the people who get it die." This infection is so severe. Between 2001-2010 only 32 cases have been reported from it, and majority of the cases were from the South East.
